RB Jeff Wilson Signs with Miami’s Practice Squad
A familiar face is returning to the Miami Dolphins. Running back Jeff Wilson has signed with the Dolphins’ practice squad.
Wilson has been with the Dolphins since the midseason point of the 2022 season.
He played in nine games for Miami in 2024.
As a member of the Dolphins, Wilson has played in 27 games, started 1, and has scored three rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown.
With Jaylen Wright out for Week 1 and with starter De’Von Achane having a calf injury that shouldn’t cost him to miss Week 1, but is still concerning, the Dolphins needed another veteran running back on the roster.
Ollie Gordon, who has been fantastic in training camp, is still a rookie and cannot be the only fully healthy running back on the roster heading into the season.

Wilson knows the offense and has been with McDaniel both in San Francisco and in Miami.
Chris Grier, at his media session, did say that he expects Miami to add a couple of running backs to the practice squad today.
Clearly, Wilson is the first, and I wouldn’t be shocked if Mike Boone or Aaron Shampklin, who Miami released earlier this week, is another.
I would expect Wilson to be active for Week 1 of the regular season, with Jaylen Wright already confirmed to miss that game.
If Wright were to miss more time, then Wilson would have a role early in the season for the Dolphins.
