During the 2025 season, the Baltimore Ravens failed to live up to high expectations by crashing and burning to an 8-9 record and missing the playoffs. The Ravens’ collapse was devastating enough that they fired longtime head coach John Harbaugh after the season. That decision to move from Harbaugh led to the Ravens hiring Jesse Minter.
While the Baltimore Ravens 2025 collapse cannot be blamed on the Ravens 11-player draft class specifically, but they also did not prevent the collapse. The Ravens 2025 draft class was the largest in the NFL in 2025, but the Ravens had feast or famine outcomes with the players they selected. However, Baltimore’s first-round pick safety Malaki Starks lived up to expectations and offered stability in a defensive secondary hit hard by injuries.
| Pick | Player | Pos | School |
| 1 (27) | Malaki Starks | S | Georgia |
| 2 (59) | Mike Green | ED | Marshall |
| 3 (91) | Emery Jones Jr. | OT | LSU |
| 4 (129) | Teddye Buchanan | LB | Cal |
| 5 (141) | Carson Vinson | OT | Ala. A&M |
| 6 (178) | Bilhal Kone | CB | W. Mich |
| 6 (186) | Tyler Loop | K | Arizona |
| 6 (203) | L. Wester | WR | Colorado |
| 6 (210) | Aeneas Peebles | DT | V. Tech |
| 6 (212) | R. Longerbeam | CB | Rutgers |
| 7 (243) | G. Dellinger | OG | LSU |
Like the rest of the 2025 roster, many of the Ravens’ rookies saw their seasons cut short by injuries. The team picked two cornerbacks to reinforce the secondary, but both Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam landed on injured reserve in the preseason. Third-round offensive tackle Emory Jones also suffered a preseason injury, preventing 25% of the draft class from making a meaningful impact.
Another criticized decision by the Baltimore Ravens was to release kicker Justin Tucker due to sexual misconduct allegations. In response, the Ravens drafted kicker Tyler Loop late in the draft, hoping that he would be able to step in for Tucker. However, Loop was statistically solid all season, but his missed kick against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the last week of the season essentially ended the Ravens’ season and eliminated them from the playoffs.
Ultimately, the Ravens were hit hard by injuries and by inconsistency on offense and defense throughout the season. Baltimore did have success with safety Malaki Starks and linebacker Teddye Buchanan, who established themselves as foundational defensive players moving forward. The biggest failure for the Ravens in the 2025 draft was failing to select mid- and late-round players who could stay healthy and avoid injury. During the 2026 draft, the Ravens will need to invest more resources in analyzing their draft prospects in greater depth.
