Re-Grading the New York Giants 2025 Draft

The New York Giants entered the 2025 draft with a “Win Now” attitude, as GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll prepared to fight for their jobs. This sense of urgency from the scouting department and coaching staff produced a draft loaded with talent. However, after a slow start to the season, the Giants began to turn the corner around mid-season. Injuries soon hit hard, and New York ultimately limped to a 4-13 record.

The result of the Giants disappointing finish to the 2025 season was a housecleaning by the front office, which led to the hiring of former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh as the Giants new head coach. Harbaugh steps into an ideal situation because of the success of the 2025 draft. The New York Giants have a legitimate group of young playmakers including Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo, and Abdul Carter after the 2025 draft.

New York Giants 2025 Draft Class

Round Pick Player Position School
1 3 Abdul Carter EDGE Penn State
1 25 Jaxson Dart QB Ole Miss
3 65 Darius Alexander DT Toledo
4 105 Cam Skattebo RB Arizona St
5 154 Marcus Mbow OT/G Purdue
7 219 Thomas Fidone II TE Nebraska
7 246 Korie Black CB Oklahoma St

Edge rusher Abdul Carter performed up to the expectations that come from being one of the top picks in the draft. During the 2025 season, Carter played in all 17 games, producing 43 total tackles, 66 quarterback pressures, 7 tackles for loss, 4.0 quarterback sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. In addition, the Giants’ second first-round pick, quarterback Jaxson Dart, played in 14 games, passing for 2,272 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.

The Giants also got some return on investment from third-round pick defensive tackle Darius Alexander, who struggled to produce the pass-rush boost the Giants anticipated. Although Alexander also struggled against the run, he remained capable enough to be a rotational player on the Giants’ defensive line for most of the season. Meanwhile, fourth-round draft pick running back Cam Skattebo had a strong start to the season with over 600 yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns in 8 games before injuries cut his season short.

New York Giants 2025 Draft Re-Grade = A-

Drafting Jaxson Dart helped elevate the Giants’ passing offense into the Top-20 in the NFL due to Dart’s mobility and ability to extend plays. The Giants’ defense is loaded with elite pass rushers, and Carter should improve each year in terms of converting more pressures into sacks. Heading into the 2026 draft, John Harbaugh will have his own preferences for who New York adds to this stable of young playmakers, but the Giants need to be sure to address their run defense.
