Former ESPN college football analyst and first-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals David Pollack was dealt difficult news on Monday as he revealed his wife Lindsey has brain cancer and would be undergoing surgery later this week.

His former ESPN colleague Rece Davis shared a heartfelt message in support on social media to the Pollacks.

"We will be steadfast in prayer. So many people love you, Lindsey and your entire family. Psalm 130:2."

Psalm 130:2 says, "O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be open to my pleas for mercy."

ESPN laid off Pollack in June 2023 after over a decade with the network.

A former Chuck Bednarik, Lott, Lombardi and two-time Ted Hendricks Award winner, Pollack was a dominant force for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2001 to 2004.

A two-time SEC Player of the Year and 2004 SEC Defensive Player of the Year, Pollack finished his collegiate career with 36 sacks.

Pollack began his broadcasting career at ESPN in 2011 after three seasons spent in the NFL. He retired in 2008 after struggles with a broken cervical vertebrae suffered in 2006. Pollack replaced Craig James on ESPN's Thursday Night Football in 2012, joining Davis, Jesse Palmer and Samantha Ponder.

In 2020, Pollack was announced as a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

David and Lindsey Pollack created The Pollack Family Foundation, which is described as "'empowering families’ by providing for basic needs and fundamental care as we invest in opportunities to encourage 'Faith. Family. Community.' throughout the Athens, Georgia community and the Greater Atlanta area," according to their website.
