Recent picture raises more questions for Christian Wilkins

The health of defensive tackle Christian Wilkins has been one of the major talking points of the offseason for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Reports surrounding Wilkins have been all over the place regarding when he can return to football. Some have even indicated that the defensive tackle could have to get another surgery on his foot, ending his 2025 season before it begins. It would be another frustrating development for Wilkins, whose first season with the Raiders after signing a four-year, $110 million contract in 2024 ended after just five games with a Jones fracture.

Now, if a recent picture is anything to go by, Wilkins might be in serious trouble.

Has Wilkins suffered another setback on his road to recovery?

In a X post shared by The Athletic’s Tashan Reed, Wilkins was spotted in an image shared by former teammate Kyle Van Noy wearing a walking boot again at a charity golf challenge.

It’s unclear why Wilkins was in the walking boot again, but it does little to quell the fears of Raiders fans that he has suffered yet another setback.

Back in May, Raiders head coach Pete Carroll spoke about the process of getting Wilkins back onto the field.

“He’s not ready to get back out. And we’re in the midst of a long, challenging process. So fortunately, there’s a lot of time,” said Carroll, per ESPN’s Ryan McFadden.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Vincent Bonsignore chimed in as well, saying that the setback Wilkins suffered was likely either the screw in his foot breaking or the bone breaking again. However, Bonsignore added that he would be expected back in August before the season begins.

With Wilkins back in a boot, however, there is a chance that optimistic outlook comes undone.
