Recruiting analyst predicts Tennessee Vols will land son of former NFL defensive back

247Sports national recruiting director Steve Wiltfong placed a "crystal ball prediction" over the weekend for the Tennessee Vols to land a 2024 in-state recruit.

Three-star cornerback Jaren Sensabaugh, 6-foot/170 lbs from Nashville (he previously played high school football in Knoxville), took an official visit to Tennessee this past weekend. Sensabaugh, who was committed to Vanderbilt at one point, told 247Sports that the visit went extremely well.

“UT has by far been the most anticipated and exciting visits I have taken all year," said Sensabaugh to 247Sports.

Sensabaugh's visit and subsequent comments about the visit is what led Wiltfong to make the prediction for Tennessee to land the talented in-state cornerback.

Sensabaugh is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 92 cornerback in the nation and the No. 36 player in the state of Tennessee. He's taken recent visits to NC State and UCLA and he's set to visit Missouri next weekend ahead of the early signing period.

The three-star recruit is the son of former NFL safety Gerald Sensabaugh, a Kingsport, TN native who started his career at East Tennessee State before transferring to North Carolina. He's also the cousin of former NFL cornerback Coty Sensabaugh, who played at Clemson.

Sensabaugh has been a slow riser in recruiting rankings due to what his father called "bad film" -- though that's something the two have worked on extensively to correct.

“Jaren has a really high IQ for the game. He understands a lot of things I didn’t know at that age,” said Gerald to Main Street Media earlier this year. “That was one of the things I tried to teach him to give him a head start. If you know what you’re doing, you don’t have to be as fast or as big.”

“I was like, ‘Your film is bad. You only played five games (last year) and didn’t show enough. I wouldn’t get you either if I was a big school,’” added Gerald. “We worked all summer to try to correct his film and take out all the question marks. And then he went out and performed at camps.”

Tennessee currently has the No. 14 2024 recruiting class in the nation.
