TreVeyon Henderson ruled out against Seahawks

The team went out and gave their franchise quarterback some new weapons, trading for wide receiver A.J. Brown and drafting left tackle Caleb Lomu. He could have an easier time performing against Seattle in the season opener, but the run game might struggle because running back TreVeyon Henderson will miss the championship rematch.

The second-year running back hasn’t practiced at all this month as he battles back from an ankle injury. He was set to play a valuable role in New England’s backfield alongside fellow rusher Rhamondre Stevenson, but that tandem will have to wait at least a week to reunite.

With Henderson out, the Patriots needed to add another running back to the roster in his place. ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced Wednesday afternoon that the team is elevating running back Lan Larison to the active roster.

Larison went undrafted in 2025 before signing to New England’s practice squad, and now he’ll finally get to live his dream of suiting up for a game in the pros. The second-year halfback began showing real promise toward the end of his time with the UC Davis Aggies, rushing for more than 1,000 yards and punching in at least 10 touchdowns in each of his last two seasons.

Players typically don’t have much of an impact in these situations, but the Patriots only have one other back on the roster other than Stevenson: another undrafted running back named Corey Kiner. This means there is a real chance for Larison to get some snaps and potentially earn a more defined role for himself in the future.
