The New York Jets, unsurprisingly, need a new head coach after Adam Gase failed to lead the franchise to success in two seasons at the helm. They've interviewed several candidates since the offseason began, though one coordinator has recently emerged as a favorite to land the position.
According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is considered the front-runner to land the Jets head-coaching job.
Coaching search update: As of now, the Jets are focused on 49ers DC Robert Saleh. They're meeting today in NJ. He's the frontrunner, but he's in demand by other teams. The Jets could try to pounce on Saleh or they could bring in others for second... https://t.co/iBsxR7bLeL

Saleh is scheduled to meet with the Jets for a second time on Wednesday after he impressed them in their first meeting last week. New York could grab Saleh very soon since his services are in demand from other clubs, Cimini adds.
Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll also are being considered for the position.
The Jets fired Gase after he went 9-23 as head coach from 2019-2020.
Saleh, 41, has been the 49ers defensive coordinator since Kyle Shanahan took over as head coach in 2017.
