Report: 49ers mentioned 'most often in league circles' as trade fit for Julio Jones

Although Julio Jones reportedly prefers a trade to the New England Patriots or Tennessee Titans, another team is reportedly coming up a lot as a potential landing spot for the Atlanta Falcons wide receiver.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said Saturday during an appearance on SportsCenter that people in league circles say the San Francisco 49ers are discussed most often as a trade fit for Jones, according to Bleacher Report.

According to The Athletic's Tori McElhaney, the Niners could entice the Falcons as a trade partner with their draft capital despite not owning a first-round pick in 2022 or 2023 thanks to the Trey Lance deal.

San Francisco has a little over $17.5 million in cap space, per Over The Cap, so they'd have to shed salary or ask Atlanta to retain some of Jones' salary in a potential deal.

Jones will make $15.3 million in 2021 and the Falcons need to clear cap space to sign their 2021 draft picks, including standout tight end Kyle Pitts.

Jones has been most heavily linked to the Patriots and Titans. However, the Baltimore Ravens might reportedly consider throwing their name into the ring if it makes sense.

The 32-year-old won't be traded until after June 1, so, at this point, it's a waiting game to see where he'll end up. The Falcons reportedly have an offer of a first-round pick for Jones, according to ESPN's Dianna Russini, and a deal could happen as soon as next week.
