Report: Bengals TE C.J. Uzomah 'trending towards playing' in Super Bowl LVI vs. Rams

Kickoff to Super Bowl LVI between the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams is just over 48 hours away. It appears that one of the key parts of the Bengals offense is on the mend and has a good shot to suit up despite a knee injury.

On Wednesday, Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor said he was optimistic regarding the tight end's status, but on Thursday, he admitted that he was still unsure of his availability. Uzomah suffered an MCL sprain in his left knee nearly two weeks ago in the team's AFC Championship Game victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 29-year-old has spent his entire seven-year career with the Bengals and is coming off of arguably his best season. During the 2021 campaign, Uzomah set career highs in receptions (49), receiving yards (493) and receiving touchdowns (five).

Typically behind wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins (and sometimes Tyler Boyd), as well as Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon in the pecking order on offense, the former Auburn Tiger finished the year tied for third in receiving scores and fourth in targets (63), receptions and receiving yards on the squad.
