REPORT: Brandon Shore to be the “Quarterback of the GM Search”
Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network reports that Miami Dolphins Senior Vice President, Football & Business Administration, Brandon Shore, will be the “quarterback of the general manager” search that is expected to start Monday as they line up interviews.
Dan Marino and Troy Aikman will also be in on all of the interviews, but Shore will be the one calling the shots here, according to Wolfe.
It was reported today that the Dolphins are hiring NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman as a consultant for this general manager search.
Whoever Miami hires as their next general manager will work hand in hand with Shore in Miami’s front office, with Shore handling most of the contract and financial aspects of the role.
The Dolphins’ search is going to be heavily focused on people with a scouting background, per multiple reports that are out there at this time.
Shore is a numbers cruncher, a capologist so to speak, so whoever the general manager is, he will work closely with Shore on a daily basis.
So having Shore be a big part of or, as it sounds, leading this process makes all the sense in the world.
There have been unconfirmed reports that in 2024, Shore was the lone voice opposing giving Tua the contract extension. That information has yet to be confirmed by a credible source, though.

Tom Pelissero reported that Aikman is not a candidate for the general manager position in Miami.
However, Troy has said in the past that he has an interest in possibly becoming a general manager someday.
Aikman will do background checks on potential candidates and sit in on the interviews Miami holds during the process.
Aikman is not expected to remain part of the Dolphins organization beyond these interviews and this process.
Pelissero went on to say, “But given Aikman’s connections around the league, including through his weekly Monday Night Football assignments, he has relationships around the league that he can lean on to gather information and shape the search.”
Per Pelissero, the Dolphins’ search for a general manager is expected to be heavily based on a scouting background.
This aligns with the Jonathan Jones report in December that Miami is looking at a co-GM setup, where Brandon Shore handles the contract and financial aspects of the general manager role, while the new general manager focuses on the draft, free agency, scouting, and the on-field aspects of the job.
There is no word on whether Aikman would be part of any head coach search should Miami part ways with Mike McDaniel.
