Report: Brian Daboll emerges as front-runner for Chargers' HC job

The Buffalo Bills are preparing to host the Baltimore Ravens for a divisional-round matchup on Saturday. However, that hasn't stopped teams from checking in on offensive coordinator Brian Daboll for their vacant head-coaching positions.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Daboll has emerged as a front-runner for the Los Angeles Chargers' head-coaching job. The Chargers have to wait to make the potential move official because they can't meet with or hire Daboll until the Bills' postseason run is over.

Daboll's 2020 season has been praised because of how well his Josh Allen-led offense has produced. The Bills ranked second in points scored and yardage while Allen enjoyed a breakout year, throwing for 4,544 yards and 37 touchdowns.

Becoming the Chargers next head coach would allow Daboll to work closely with Justin Herbert, who enjoyed a tremendous rookie campaign. The 22-year-old shattered several rookie records while throwing for 4,336 yards and 31 touchdowns, the most ever by a rookie QB in NFL history.

Daboll has strong ties to the Chargers organization, attending high school and playing football with general manager Tom Telesco. Quite frankly, it wouldn't be surprising to see him end up in L.A.

The Chargers fired former head coach Anthony Lynn after back-to-back losing seasons.
