Report: Broncos 2022 Draft Pick Faion Hicks Arrested in Florida
USA TODAY Sports

It's been a while since there's been news of a Denver Broncos player being arrested, but second-year cornerback Faion Hicks snapped the streak. According to 9NEWS' Mike Klis, Hicks was arrested in Florida on three charges and is now out on bail.

Denver Broncos' second-year year cornerback Faion Hicks is out on bond after he was arrested Saturday on three charges filed by police in Hallendale, Florida.

According to court records, the most serious offense was a third-degree felony charged for carrying a concealed firearm.

Hicks appeared to be pulled over by police after he "disobeyed a stop sign." Besides the traffic violation and concealed firearm charge, Hicks was cited for having an expired driver's license of less than four months, according to court records.

Hicks was a seventh-round draft pick last year out of Wisconsin. He did not see any playing time on defense, though he did appear in two games on special teams.

The Broncos are under new management, so to speak, with Sean Payton installed as head coach. Although GM George Paton was the man who drafted Hicks, it'll be curious to see if Payton likes him enough to keep him on the roster in the wake of these charges.

For Hicks, playing in his favor is the Broncos' relative lack of cornerback depth. Once you get beyond the team's projected starting trio, Denver's cornerback depth falls of a cliff.

There's Hicks, the recently re-signed Essang Bassey, and 2022 undrafted free agent JaQuan McMillian. The Broncos need cornerback help.

The Broncos will investigate the circumstances surrounding Hicks' arrest and act accordingly. Meanwhile, the NFL draft rolls around at the end of this month, where Denver can find myriad reinforcements at cornerback, regardless of what fate awaits Hicks courtesy of NFL discipline or Florida law.

Stay tuned.
