Report: Browns RB Jerome Ford out 1-2 weeks
Bob Scheer-USA TODAY Sports

A high right ankle sprain will force Cleveland Browns running Jerome Ford to miss one or weeks, ESPN reported on Monday.

Ford sustained the injury on Sunday late in the Browns' 39-38 road win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Ford, who has been filling in with Nick Chubb done for the year due to a knee injury, started well on Sunday. On the opening drive of the game, he gained 8 yards on his first carry, then went 69 yards for a touchdown on the next play.

He had nine more carries over the remainder of the contest and lost a total of 3 yards on those plays.

Ford, 23, has produced 34 yards and two touchdowns on 78 carries this year during six games (three starts). He also has 14 receptions for 104 yards and two TDs.

Selected by Cleveland in the fifth round of the 2022 draft out of the University of Cincinnati, Ford saw action in 13 games as a reserve as a rookie. He had just eight carries for 12 yards and no scores last year.

Next up on the Browns' running back depth are Kareem Hunt, who ran 10 times for 31 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday, and Pierre Strong Jr., who gained 25 yards on eight carries.

Cleveland (4-2) travels to face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
