Report: Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco nearing return

The Kansas City Chiefs have been the best team in the NFL through the first half of the season, and it sounds like they are going to get even better in the coming weeks.

Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco has been on injured reserve since he suffered a fractured fibula in Week 2. There had been reports that he could return at some point in November. That timeline is now looking realistic.

Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported on Tuesday that the Chiefs plan to designate Pacheco to return from IR this week.

If and when the Chiefs do designate Pacheco to return, that would open a 21-day window for him to be added to the active roster.

The Chiefs signed Kareem Hunt after Pacheco went down, and that move has paid off. Hunt, who is in his second stint in Kansas City, has rushed for 449 yards and five touchdowns in six games. He has averaged a modest 3.6 yards per carry, but he has been plenty effective.

Pacheco, a former seventh-round pick, is in his third season with the Chiefs. He was projected by most to have a breakout year before he suffered the leg injury. While that is no longer an option, he can still make a huge difference for Kansas City down the stretch if he returns healthy.
