Cooper Kupp solidified himself last season as one of the Los Angeles Rams' best wide receivers, and now the team is going to pay him as such.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Kupp and the Rams have made "significant progress" toward a large contract extension. The deal could be done before L.A.'s season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
The #Rams and WR Cooper Kupp have made significant progress on a large new contract extension, per me and @MikeGarafolo, and there is a real chance they finalize it before the team kicks off.

This news is surprising given that earlier in the week it was reported that Kupp receiving a new deal ahead of the season opener seemed unlikely.
Kupp had a career year in 2019, reeling in 94 receptions for 1,161 yards and 10 touchdowns. The 27-year-old is in the final season of his rookie contract and due to make $2.13 million in base salary.
