Report: Dallas Cowboys sign veteran CB Michael Ojemudia

The Dallas Cowboys have signed cornerback Michael Ojemudia, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Ojemudia played for the DC Defenders of the United Football League earlier this year.

While with the Defenders, Ojemudia made 11 appearances. He tallied 27 tackles and an interception. Ojemudia has 22 career appearances in the NFL, including 12 starts.

The Denver Broncos selected Ojemudia with the No. 77 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. In his debut campaign with the team, Ojemudia started 11 games, recording 62 tackles, six pass breakups and four forced fumbles.

However, ahead of the 2021 season, the Broncos signed free agents Kyle Fuller and Ronald Darby. The pair leapt ahead of Ojemudia on the depth chart, ultimately limiting the former Iowa standout’s snaps.

The Broncos placed Michael Ojemudia on injured reserve before the season began and he didn’t make a start until the team’s regular-season finale. Ojemudia was put on the Broncos’ injured reserved again shortly before the 2022 season began and, subsequently, waived on December 27, 2022.

The Chicago Bears claimed Ojemudia off waivers the following day before waiving him ahead of the 2023 regular season. From there, Ojemudia signed with the Arizona Cardinals, but never saw any action for the team.

Cowboys and Micah Parsons not any closer to deal

Now, Ojemudia will have another chance in the NFL, this time for the Dallas Cowboys. Of course, Ojemudia’s signing is small news in the Cowboys’ world, with Micah Parsons‘ contract dispute still ongoing.

Earlier this month, Dallas Cowboys EDGE Micah Parsons publicly announced he’d officially requested a trade after his contract talks with the organization had stalled. During an appearance on Get Up on Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided an update on Parsons’ contract negotiations with Dallas.

“It is different. It’s gotten personal, and they’re no closer to a deal, and there’s no reason to think that the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons will be able to work out a deal before the start of the regular season,” Schefter said.

“Now, again, it’s August 18, and sides always can come together, but we want to emphasize, there has been zero contract negotiations since late March and early April. Is that going to change all of a sudden? I don’t think so.”

On Sept. 4, the Cowboys will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in their season-opener at 8:20 p.m. ET. The game will air live on NBC.
