REPORT: Dolphins Expected to Play San Francisco in Mexico City
49ers Beat reporter Jennifer Lee Chan for NBC Sports Bay Area reports she is hearing that, when the San Francisco 49ers play a home game in Mexico City this year, the opponent will be the Miami Dolphins.
The game is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 22nd.
Again, this is a 49ers home game, and for the Dolphins, it does save them a cross-country flight to San Francisco, so in some ways, this is a break.
Rumor is the 49ers blocked the Broncos and Raiders from being their opponent in Mexico City as they have the right to block certain teams from being their opponent in Mexico City.
Plus, the Dolphins have a large fan base in Mexico, so I expect a 50-50 crowd for this game if this report proves accurate and the game is made official in the coming weeks.
The Miami Dolphins have played in Mexico City once before, in 1997, in a preseason game vs the Denver Broncos.
Miami won that game 38-19.
The Dolphins’ 2026 schedule is a brutal slate.
On top of facing the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots twice, they will also play all four teams from the AFC West and NFC North, arguably the two best divisions in the NFL.
Then, they have games vs Cincinnati and Indianapolis, two teams that destroyed the Dolphins last season.
The NFL schedule is expected to be released the second week in May.
Below is a list of the home and away opponents for the Dolphins this upcoming season.
Buffalo Bills
New England Patriots
NY Jets
Kansas City Chiefs
LA Chargers
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Cincinnati Bengals
Buffalo Bills
New England Patriots
NY Jets
Green Bay Packers
Minnesota Vikings
