REPORT: Dolphins Interested in WR Kendrick Bourne

Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reports that the Miami Dolphins are one of a few teams in the mix to possibly sign free agent wide receiver Kendrick Bourne.

Bourne will be 31 in August and went undrafted in 2017.

He signed with San Francisco in 2017 and was there until 2020. During his time in San Francisco, he worked with new Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik.

After San Fran, he then signed a 3-year deal with the New England Patriots.

Last season, Bourne went back to San Fran on a 1-year deal worth $5 million.

In his career, Bourne has played in 127 games, starting 47.

He has 22 career receiving touchdowns.

Last season, in San Fran, he played in 16 games, starting 8 games. He had 37 receptions for 551 yards and no touchdowns.

In 2024, with New England, he played 12 games, starting 9. He had 28 receptions for 305 yards and one touchdown.

The Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver room right now is bare, as after Jaylen Waddle, they do not have much you can count on.

They released Nick Westbrook-Ikhine a few weeks back.

Malik Washington is a 4th WR at best on this roster.

Tajh Washington is totally unproven and most likely a 5th WR on this team.

The Dolphins need a veteran presence to put next to Waddle in this group.

And I fully expect Miami to attack the WR position in the middle rounds of this year’s upcoming draft as well.

After Miami signs Willis, we will see how much salary cap space they have and will want to invest in a player like Bourne.

But on a 1-year deal, if the price is right, this may be a sneaky good move if Jon-Eric Sullivan can pull it off.
