Report: Doug Pederson's future with Eagles officially in doubt

The Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions and Houston Texans have fired their head coaches this season. The Philadelphia Eagles are now on the clock.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson is on the hot seat, and his future with the organization is in doubt while the team is in the midst of its worst season since 2012. Rapoport adds that "there's no guarantee" Pederson returns next season despite leading his team to a Super Bowl win in 2018.

The Eagles have been riddled with injuries this season, but their inconsistencies have proved to be more costly. Sitting third in the NFC East with a 3-7-1 record, Philadelphia's struggles are highlighted by Carson Wentz, who leads the NFL in interceptions, sacks and fumbles.

In an effort to turn things around and help Wentz, Pederson relinquished some of his offensive play-calling duties to assistants in recent games, but that alone hasn't necessarily helped.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie made his displeasure with the team known by not attending its Week 11 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. He normally attends every game, both at home and on the road.

The final month of the season won't be any easier for the Eagles, who have to play against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon. They'll then have to face the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals before divisional showdowns with the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Football Team.
