The Jacksonville Jaguars’ new regime apparently does not think too highly of Travis Etienne.
Etienne was a first-round pick by the Jaguars in 2021 and began his career with consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons. Last season, however, he had just 558 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on 150 carries. His role was reduced as he split carries with Tank Bigsby.
The Jaguars have a new general manager (James Gladstone) and head coach (Liam Coen) for the 2025 season, and they may not see a big future for Etienne in Jacksonville.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the new regime is not high on Etienne. The Jags drafted rookie Bhayshul Tuten in the fourth round out of Virginia Tech. They may view him as someone who can carry the load for the upcoming season.
Bigsby was a third-round pick by the Jags in 2023. He had 766 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns last season and outproduced Etienne on the ground. Etienne did have more of a presence as a receiver with 39 catches for 254 yards.
The Jaguars took a big swing in the draft when they traded up to select Travis Hunter. Their plan is to play the former Colorado star on both offense and defense. The Jags are coming off a 4-13 season.
