Report: Jets send players home after presumptive positive COVID-19 test

The NFL has been hit hard by the coronavirus over the last two weeks. While only the Tennessee Titans have experienced an outbreak, multiple teams around the league have seen at least one of their players test positive.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the New York Jets sent all of their players and staff home on Friday after receiving a presumptive positive COVID-19 test from a player.

The New England Patriots have seen both Cam Newton and Stephon Gilmore test positive for the virus, resulting in their Week 5 matchup against the Denver Broncos being pushed to Monday at 5 p.m. ET. Similarly, the Kansas City Chiefs saw practice squad passer Jordan Ta'amu test positive. However, their Week 5 game against the Las Vegas Raiders currently isn't in jeopardy.

With a bubble being nearly impossible to enact in the NFL, the league has prepared for situations in which teams record positive tests. As the number of positive tests continues to pile up, though, the league likely will crack down and revise their current protocols.

There has been no update on Sunday's Jets-Cardinals game status, though Schefter reports that Arizona was scheduled to leave for New York on Friday, and now there are questions about whether or not they should fly East.
