Report: Jets Want day 2 Picks for Jermaine Johnson, Breece Hall

With the NFL trade deadline approaching and names like Jermaine Johnson and Breece Hall being floated by various outlets, NFL reporter Dianna Russini has some updates on what type of compensation the Jets are looking for.

According to Russini, the Philadelphia Eagles are showing some interest in Johnson which would reunite him former Jets GM Joe Douglas, who is a top personnel man in Philly.  In return, the Jets would be looking for a second-round pick or better.  It’s a price that the Eagles will be unlikely to match, and shows the Jets value what Johnson brings.

When it comes to Breece Hall, Gang Green is reportedly asking for a third-round pick despite the running back being in the final year of his deal.  If the Jets spend big this offseason, a comp pick for Hall becomes very unlikely.  Does this mean a franchise tag or long-term deal are a part of the plan?  If not, they likely lose Hall and get nothing in return.

Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of the Jets handling of Hall is that through multiple regimes, the team continues to misuse and undervalue the multi-dimensional back.  A legitimate weapon as a pass catcher either out of the backfield or split out wide, Hall has averaged just four targets per game.  Given the team’s lack of receiving options, he should be seeing double that.

With the deadline just three days, the Jets will be moving forward with our without Jermaine Johnson and Breece Hall once they kick off against the Browns in week 10.
