Joe Burrow just got knocked off the throne as the NFL's highest-paid player. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is signing a four-year $240-million contract extension ahead of the season that secures him with Dallas through the 2028 campaign.

The deal includes $231 million guaranteed and $60 million average annual value in new money, above Burrow's $55 million AAV.

There was a tie amongst QBs at the top all summer until the Cowboys ponied up the money to lock their franchise QB in a low-leverage situation for the team. It sets the QB market at an NFL record $60 million per season and makes the Burrow deal more of a bargain.
