Report: Justin Jefferson reveals who he wants as QB next season
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings have dealt with a lot of adversity this season. The team got off to a slow 1-4 start and has dealt with huge injuries to star players Justin Jefferson and Kirk Cousins. Cousins will miss the rest of the 2023 season while Jefferson is on track to play again.

With the uncertainty around Cousins, the star receiver shared who he wants as his quarterback next year.

Justin Jefferson-Kirk Cousins Duo

The receiver wants Cousins to stay with the Vikings and run it back next season with hopes of a greater outcome. The two have had great chemistry over the years and have solidified themselves on one of the top quarterback-receiver duos in the league.

Before getting injured, Jefferson was on pace to once again claim the NFL receiving title. However, with Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill having a historic season so far, it is very unlikely that will be the case. As for Cousins, he was among the top five quarterbacks in passing yards before he went down in last week’s game against the Green Bay Packers with a torn Achilles. Rumors have already started circling regarding the quarterback’s future in Minnesota.

Storied Careers

Before going down with an injury in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Jefferson was able to amount to 571 receiving yards and three touchdowns in five games. Since joining the league in 2020, he has gone for 5,396 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns and has gone for over 1,000 yards in each of his seasons before this year.

As for Cousins, he was on a roll this season with 2,331 passing yards and 18 touchdowns before going down with his injury against Green Bay. He is in his 12th season in the NFL and has thrown for 39,471 passing yards and 270 touchdowns in his decorated career. He has proved that he can be great, but will the Vikings believe in him enough to keep him around for next year?
