Report: Patriots 'working on a deal' to bring back former Giants HC Joe Judge as offensive assistant

Just one month after being fired by the New York Giants from his head-coaching post, Joe Judge may be on the verge of a new gig.

Over two seasons with Judge at the helm with the Giants, the team went 10-23. The 40-year-old's coaching career began with three years as a graduate assistant with Mississippi State from 2005 to 2007.

Judge then served as the linebackers coach for Division III Birmingham-Southern in 2008, before holding a special teams assistant gig with Alabama from 2009 to 2011. Judge worked under Patriots head coach Bill Belichick from 2012 to 2019, the first three years as a special teams assistant, followed by seasons as the special teams coordinator and one year as the special teams coordinator/wide receivers coach.

He was hired as New York's head coach in January 2020.

It was reported last week that both Bill O'Brien and Adam Gase were candidates for New England's vacant offensive coordinator position. Former Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was recently hired to be the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
