Report: Philadelphia Eagles Coach Doesn’t Want To Return For 2024 Season
Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

One Philadelphia Eagles coach has decided not to return to the team following the 2023 season. The Eagles were set to have some turnover on the staff following a two-month stretch that saw the team lose six of their final seven games.

The Philadelphia Eagles fired their DC

The Eagles fired defensive coordinator Sean Desai on Sunday night. Reports came out earlier this weekend the Eagles were planning on parting with Desai and/or Matt Patricia this offseason. Patricia took over the playcalling duties from Desai in Week 15 to try and jumpstart the defense.

The risky switch didn’t salvage the season, as the Eagles would lose in the Wild Card round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round. Desai might have chosen to be fired, but Patricia is volunteering to leave Philadelphia.

Matt Patricia wants a new job

According to Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, Patricia is exploring new “opportunities” for next season now that his contract with the Eagles is expiring.

Pelissero thinks Patricia will be a top defensive coordinator candidate for another team this offseason.

With Desai and Patricia gone, the Eagles are expected to go after Baltimore Ravens defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson as a potential defensive coordinator for next season. Wilson was the Eagles defensive backs coach in 2022.
