Report: Raiders considering former Giants HC Joe Judge for special teams coordinator

The Raiders are looking to fill out Josh McDaniel's new coaching staff and are apparently looking at former New York Giants head coach Joe Judge as a candidate for special teams coordinator, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Monday.

As Fowler mentions, Judge's history coaching with McDaniels in New England makes this a likely match. Plus, there is yet another connection now that Vegas has hired Patrick Graham, formerly with the Giants, as its defensive coordinator.

Of course, this is far from a done deal even though Judge is well-acquainted with the Raiders' new brass. As Fowler notes, Judge is patiently weighing his coaching options. There has even been speculation he could return to New England, although that's just hearsay at this point. So while teams may be ramping up their interview processes in order to get coaching staffs in place for next season, it doesn't appear that Judge is going to jump at the first job offered to him.

The Giants fired Judge at the conclusion of the 2021 season after the team finished the campaign with six straight losses. New York originally seemed committed to bringing Judge back for another season, but they clearly changed their tune following some very embarrassing losses and one very whacky postgame rant.

New York went 10-23 over the two seasons Judge was head coach.
