While the Los Angeles Rams were reportedly in talks to acquire yet another star receiver, it seems they were willing to part ways with one that they already had.
According to NBC's ProFootballTalk, LA recently had discussions with the Philadelphia Eagles about making a trade for three-time Pro Bowler A.J. Brown. However, the team eventually "tapped out" and decided not to pursue him any further.
A wide receiver room of Brown, Puca Nacua and Davante Adams would've read more like a fantasy football lineup than an actual NFL team. But it sounds like the Rams were open to shipping one of those names out of Tinseltown to make room for the disgruntled Super Bowl champ.
As PFT reports, "the Rams — while talking about a possible trade for Brown — were pursuing the possibility of trading Adams."
Noting that "The Rams presumably were hoping to get a deal done by today, when a fully-guaranteed $6 million roster bonus came due. And the payment of the bonus likely means they’ll keep Adams and his $18 million base salary."
Adams led the league in receiving touchdowns in 2025 and really carried the load for LA offensively when Nacua was forced to miss time in the middle of the year. A trade out of Los Angeles would've put Davante on his fifth NFL team in six seasons.
It's been a fairly active offseason for Sean McVay and the Rams who made the move to trade for Chiefs All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie and sign him to a record-setting four-year, $124 million contract last week.
McDuffie and Nacua were college teammates at the University of Washington. And during a recent appearance on ESPN LA Radio, the star CB shared the warning he gave Puka now that they're on the same squad again.
“I told him he better be ready for practice because that’s going to be some of the best competition we’re going to have, is one-on-ones, me and Puka, just like we did in college,” McDuffie said. “I mean, we were going against each other all day, everyday. I’m sure he’s going to win some, but I'm definitely going to go out there and win some, too.”

Who knows if these recent trade rumors will have any lingering effects on Adams and his attitude towards the team this fall. But he and the Rams are in great position to make another deep playoff run in 2026 if all goes according to plan.
