Believe it or not, the Los Angeles Rams have flirted with the idea of trading All-Pro wideout Davante Adams.
The Rams signed Adams to a two-year, $44 million deal during the 2025 offseason. Though he missed a few games during the regular season, he still had 60 catches for 789 yards and 14 touchdowns in Sean McVay's offense.
So why would the Rams move on from Adams? On this Wednesday's episode of the "PFT Live Podcast," Mike Florio said the Rams would've dealt Adams had they worked out a separate trade for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown. However, they backed out of trade talks for Brown after conducting their preliminary medical research.
"They were talking to the Eagles about A.J. Brown. They got scared off by some of the, as I'm told, preliminary medical research," Florio said. "They decided, too much of an investment for a player at this age, general wear-and-tear. ‘We’re not going to do it.' But they were lining it all up where if they got A.J. Brown, they'd trade Davante Adams."
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler also reported that Los Angeles thought about moving Adams this offseason.
"The Los Angeles Rams inquired about it, but they realized Davante Adams is still the best fit for them, and he had some guaranteed money that just locked in, so it looks like it’s going to be Puka and Davante Adams instead of Puka and A.J. Brown," Fowler said on Yahoo Sports Daily, via Rams Wire.
We all saw how productive Adams was for the Rams when healthy last season, so holding onto him isn't a bad thing at all.
Barring an unexpected extension this offseason, Adams is set to hit the open market in 2027.
Adams has not given any indication that he's ready to retire from the NFL. That being said, he'll be 34 years old in December, and the only thing missing from his résumé is a Super Bowl ring.
If Adams wins a Super Bowl with the Rams during the 2026 season, he could potentially ride off into the sunset as a champion.
