After numerous injuries in their offensive backfield, the Arizona Cardinals are now dealing with an injury at the most important position: quarterback.
Veteran backup Jacoby Brissett took over for Kyler Murray last week in Arizona's four-point loss to the Colts. And according to reports, it appears that's going to continue until at least next month.
Murray suffered a foot sprain a couple of games ago that had him questionable going into Week 6's start, and ultimately he wasn't able to give it a go. Now the former No. 1 pick could miss an even more extended period of time in the midst of the Cards' four-game losing skid.
Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Murray could be held out past the Cardinals' Week 8 bye week, putting him in line to make his return against the Dallas Cowboys in primetime.
"Cardinals QB Kyler Murray is expected to return to play after Arizona’s bye week for its Monday night Nov. 3 game at Dallas, per sources," the NFL insider reported . "Murray is is expected to miss his second straight game Sunday due to a foot injury, thrusting Jacoby Brissett into the starting role vs. the Packers, per source."
Brissett actually fared pretty well in last Sunday's game. Despite the loss, the journeyman backup posted decent numbers without much of a running game to speak of — tossing for 320 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 44 pass attempts.

"Weirdly kind of owns the Cowboys. I’m sure it’ll be a fun and not frustrating night," RJ Ochoa replied.
"He'll do enough to put the Cardinals out of the top-10 in the draft order, but still nowhere near the playoffs. Mediocre Murray," a user commented.
"He’s never lost at JerryWorld," Ed Werder pointed out.
"No surprise here…" a fan posted.
"Just let him play call of duty in peace," another person said.
"We’re everyone’s superbowl," a Dallas fan laughed.
So far, 2025 has been another year of mild disappointment when it comes to Kyler Murray and the Cardinals. For as talented as he is, too often it feels like the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner just can't quite get his team over the hump.
Murray is 38-48-1 as a starter with just one winning season under his belt since entering the league. And if things don't turn around over the next handful of weeks, that may likely continue into another AZ campaign.
