Report: Saints to play regular-season game in London in 2022

The full schedule for the 2022 NFL regular season likely won't be unveiled until some point in May after the draft, but it appears the New Orleans Saints know they'll be taking a lengthy trip at some point during the fall.

According to Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune | The New Orleans Advocate, the NFL has notified the Saints they'll be playing a game in London as part of the league's International Series later this year. Neither the date nor opponent for that matchup is known at this time, but Duncan adds the Saints should be the home team and are expected to face an NFC South club.

It's unclear if the contest will occur at Wembley Stadium or Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The league could make a formal announcement soon, perhaps next week during Super Bowl media obligations.

The Saints have gone 2-0 in regular-season games at Wembley, as they beat the San Diego Chargers in 2008 and then notched a win over the Miami Dolphins in 2017.

International NFL games were canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but London hosted a pair of contests this past season. Reports surfaced in the fall the NFL will announce a German city that will host a future game during the upcoming Super Bowl week.
