Report: Seahawks decline fifth-year option on DE L.J. Collier

Less than 24 hours before the Monday deadline for NFL teams to make their decisions on fifth-year options for 2019 first-round draft picks, the Seattle Seahawks reportedly made the call on defensive lineman L.J. Collier.

The 26-year-old was selected with the 29th overall pick three years ago and was limited to 11 games due to injury. Collier finished his rookie season having only played 152 defensive snaps and made just three tackles.

The TCU product had his best year in 2020, playing and starting in all 16 games and recording career highs in tackles (22), quarterback hits (seven) and sacks (3.0). Collier regressed in 2021 though and he saw just 218 defensive snaps across 10 games.

A Munday, Tx. native, Collier recorded eight tackles and five quarterback hits last season.
