If the San Francisco 49ers are willing to trade Mac Jones this offseason, there won't be a shortage of suitors.
The 49ers signed Jones to a two-year deal worth $7 million last offseason. That move legitimately saved their season because Jones was excellent filling in for Brock Purdy. He completed 69.6% of his passes for 2,151 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions. The team went 5-3 with him as the starter.
So where could Jones end up this offseason? Apparently, we can't rule out a move to the NFC North.
According to Jason Harmon of SKOR North, the Minnesota Vikings are expected to show interest in Jones this offseason. However, there could be a competitive market for the former first-round pick from Alabama.
"Source with inside knowledge shared Mac Jones is definitely on the Vikings radar, but there are a number of other teams interested," Harmon said.
Grant Cohn mentioned Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison as a potential trade target for the 49ers this offseason. He has racked up 2,396 yards and 22 touchdowns since joining the Vikings in 2023.
“The Vikings apparently don’t want to pick up Addison’s fifth-year option. They like Jalen Nailor, who is going to be a free agent wide receiver. They’d like to keep him. Since they’re not going to pick up Addison’s fifth-year option, they’d be open to trading him,” Cohn said. “He has been arrested three times, but most recently the charges were dropped. Apparently, from what I’ve heard, there have been initial discussions between the two teams on a trade.”
Maybe, just maybe, the 49ers will want Addison in return for Jones. That player swap would certainly shake up the landscape of the NFC.
