It was reported in early May that the Steelers were starting the second round of interviews for the post and Tennessee Titans vice president of player personnel Ryan Cowden and Tampa Bay Buccaneers vice president of player personnel John Spytek were among the candidates being looked at. Pittsburgh's longtime GM Kevin Colbert is retiring after a largely successful two-plus decade run.
The Steelers went 226-124-3 in the regular-season and 15-12 in the playoffs during Colbert's tenure. Colbert joined the Steelers in 2000.
