Report: Steelers lose WR Anthony Miller, S Karl Joseph to season-ending injuries

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without both wide receiver Anthony Miller and safety Karl Joseph for the entire 2022 season due to shoulder and ankle injuries, respectively, according to Dale Lolley of DK Pittsburgh Sports.

Miller, 27, was scooped up by the Steelers in October 2021 after he was released by the Houston Texans. While he appeared in only one game with Pittsburgh and recorded just one reception, Miller was impressing in camp and appeared likely to earn a spot on the final roster, despite the team's strong depth at receiver.

With Miller out of action, the Steelers still have a crowded group of receivers headlined by Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool and George Pickens.

Joseph, 28, appeared to have a more difficult path to the 53-man roster with Terrell Edmunds and Damontae Kazee ahead of him on the depth chart at strong safety. The 2016 first-round pick spent the first four seasons of his career with the Oakland Raiders, but was allowed to reach free agency in 2020 and spent one season with the Cleveland Browns. Last season, Joseph appeared in two games with the Steelers.

Pittsburgh finished 21st in points scored and 20th in points allowed in 2021.
