Report: Texans' Deshaun Watson to meet with Panthers, Saints ahead of potential trade

The New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers have made trade offers for Deshaun Watson and plan to meet with the Houston Texans quarterback soon, according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

While it's unusual for a player under contract to meet with other teams, Watson is reportedly unwilling to waive his no-trade clause without first meeting with a prospective team, and the Texans are OK with him exploring the market.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Texans' asking price for Watson has been more than three first-round picks, and multiple teams — presumably including the Saints and Panthers — have been willing to pay it. Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network reported Sunday that other teams interested in a trade for Watson include the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns.

Watson, 26, was the Texans' first-round pick in 2017 and earned three straight trips to the Pro Bowl between 2018 and 2020. However, he sat out the entire 2021 season after multiple women made allegations of inappropriate conduct and sexual assault by Watson. On Friday, a grand jury in Houston voted to not indict Watson on 10 criminal complaints, but he's still facing 22 civil lawsuits. A suspension from the NFL is still a possibility, as well.

In four NFL seasons, Watson has thrown 104 touchdown passes with 36 interceptions, and he's also scored 17 rushing touchdowns.
