Report: Texans down to three finalists for HC job
Brian Flores Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Texans are getting closer to naming a new head coach, and it appears they have narrowed their search to three candidates.

Brian Flores, who has interviewed with the Texans twice, is considered a finalist. According to USA Today’s Josina Anderson, Flores is joined by Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon and Josh McCown.

Anderson noted that the Texans’ feelings on Flores have not changed since the former Miami Dolphins coach filed a lawsuit against the NFL and several teams on Tuesday.

The Texans also like Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell, but he is expected to be hired by the Minnesota Vikings.

McCown was in the running for the Houston job before they hired David Culley last year. The former journeyman quarterback has no prior NFL coaching experience, which is why the Texans were heavily criticized for considering him a year ago.

Flores has also interviewed with the New Orleans Saints. He was believed to be a finalist for the New York Giants job at one point, but we all know how that turned out.
