Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson plans to end his holdout and report to training camp, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Hendrickson was the last player left holding out of camp and is reportedly still no closer to reaching a new deal with the team.

By returning to camp, Hendrickson stops the $50,000/day fine he was accruing. It also will hopefully create good faith with management to finally get a deal done.

Hendrickson is entering the final year of his contract and will make $21 million this season according to Spotrac. He is coming off of a year in which he led the NFL with 17.5 sacks in addition to two forced fumbles, six passes defended and 46 total tackles.

The defensive end is getting ready to enter his ninth NFL season overall and his fifth with Cincinnati. He has made the Pro Bowl in all four seasons with the Bengals and finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting this past year.

Hendrickson played college football at Florida Atlantic and was a third-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent the first four years of his career with the New Orleans Saints before signing with the Bengals ahead of the 2021 season.

Cincinnati recently doled out big contracts to receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins this offseason, which Chase’s $61 million deal making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league. That in mind, the team may still be trying to work out all the financials to figure out what it can afford to offer Hendrickson.

Regardless, the Trey Hendrickson is back on the practice field for the Bengals and will be one of the most important pieces to the team. He’ll look to build upon his big year in 2024 and prove he is worth every penny of a new deal.

Cincinnati Bengals agree to historic contract extensions with Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins

Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are signing new contract extensions with the team. Per Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports, Chase has agreed to a four-year, $161 million deal, and Higgins has agreed to a four-year, $115 million contract.

For Chase, he will get $112 million guaranteed and is now the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. For Higgins, his first two years are guaranteed, making him the highest-paid No. 2 wide receiver in NFL history.

“The Bengals, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins made significant progress on these deals over the past week,” Schultz wrote on X/Twitter. “The deals were completed just a few hours ago and will be officially announced by the team this week. The cherry on top: both receivers locking in their contracts at the same time.”

Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are arguably the best wide receiver tandem in NFL history. In 17 games last year, Chase caught an NFL-leading 127 passes for 1,708 yards and 17 touchdowns. In 12 games, Higgins caught 73 passes for 911 yards and 10 scores.
