Report: Vikings to ‘keep riding’ Ty Chandler as Alexander Mattison returns

The Vikings are expected to get running back Alexander Mattison back from injury today but NFL Network's Tom Pelissero says the Vikings will "keep riding" Ty Chandler's hot hand.

Chandler rushed for 132 yards in his first career start last week against the Bengals as Mattison was held out with an ankle injury that he suffered in Minnesota's Dec. 10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

According to Pelissero, Mattison is not yet 100% healthy. It's unclear how much playing time Mattison will get, but last week in Cincinnati it was Chandler on the field for 55 of 68 offensive snaps, and he took 23 of 24 handoffs in the game while Kene Nwangwu received one carry.

Chandler averaged 5.7 yards per carry against a Bengals defense that ranks 29th in the league against the run. It'll be a different story Sunday in Minneapolis as the Vikings face Detroit's seventh-ranked rush defense.
