Reporter shuts down trade rumors for All-Pro WR

Despite the  Las Vegas Raiders' awful 1-3 start, don't expect star wide receiver Davante Adams to request a trade.

"With the Raiders struggling, Davante Adams is a popular name for fans to throw around as a potential dream trade candidate," wrote Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. "From what I've always heard, however, Adams has been set on playing in Vegas long-term. So unless something has changed, I don't get any sense that he wants out."

It's a surprise that the 30-year-old is committed to Las Vegas. The organization has a 7-24 record since it acquired him in 2022 and doesn't give him a chance to win a Super Bowl — which he has never played in.

He also recently voiced his frustrations with the club.

"It's not my mentality to sit here and take all season to figure it out," he said following a Week 3 loss to the Steelers, per Pro Football Talk. "We're not doing the right things to build a winning culture."

Furthermore, one of the reasons many cited for Adams choosing the Raiders in the first place was the chance to reunite with Derek Carr, his quarterback in collage at Fresno State. Carr has since moved on to the New Orleans Saints.

Adams is in the second year of a five-year, $140M deal, so he probably realizes that limits his market as teams lack the cap space to accommodate it. He might not be willing to renegotiate his contract, either.

Additionally, Fowler reported he's a "big believer" in rookie QB Aidan O'Connell, who filled in for an injured Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion) in a Week 4 loss to the Chargers and went 24-of-39 for 238 yards. Garoppolo remains the starter, but the fourth-round pick out of Purdue is an intriguing project QB.

Nonetheless, keep an eye on the disgruntled WR. Adams might change his mind if the team keeps losing. If the six-time Pro Bowler became available, he would attract Super Bowl contenders who need to bolster their receiving corps.
