Reporter updates if Tom Brady will call NFL games for Fox in 2024

New York Post sports media columnist Andrew Marchand offered an update Monday regarding whether he believes retired quarterback Tom Brady will serve as the lead NFL analyst for Fox beginning with the 2024 season. 

"We have discussed the 'Brady Meter' for a year," Marchand wrote. "The question is whether Brady will replace Greg Olsen or not. Right now, we have the 'Meter' at 79 percent in favor of him calling games. It is always subject to change, but with his growing critical presence on social media and (according to sources) his studying of broadcasts, it is looking more and more likely he will be in the booth and the center of attention come September." 

Marchand raised eyebrows throughout the sports world when he said this past spring that the so-called "Brady Meter" could be a "49% chance he does it, 51% chance he doesn’t" because the seven-time Super Bowl champion may not want "to travel that much" to work as a full-time broadcaster. However, Marchand later clarified that he thought at the time Brady would not "pass on" the reported $375M he's set to earn from Fox via a 10-year deal. 

Brady repeatedly insisted throughout much of 2023 that he's committed to replacing Olsen as Fox's No. 1 NFL analyst this coming September. While the future Hall of Famer recently teased that he "was about to unretire" in May 2023, previous comments suggest that Brady was merely joking in what became a viral Instagram post. 

"This will be a spectacle, week to week, as the player considered the greatest of all time will be dissecting the action," Marchand added about Brady joining play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt in the Fox booth. "Adding to the intrigue, Fox ends next season with the Super Bowl in February 2025." 

Brady hasn't been shy in retirement about blasting numerous aspects of the NFL. Many fans likely hope he will keep that same energy once he officially becomes an employee of one of the league's main broadcast partners.
