Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is expected to sit out his team's game against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night, multiple media outlets reported on Wednesday.

Marcus Mariota is in line to make his third start under center for the Commanders (3-4) in place of Daniels, who is nursing a hamstring injury.

Daniels, 24, sustained his injury during the third quarter of Sunday's 44-22 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He also sat out two games earlier this season with a knee sprain sustained in Week 2 versus the Green Bay Packers.

The 2024 NFL Rookie of the Year, Daniels has thrown for 1,031 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception this season with 211 rushing yards and one rushing score.

Mariota, 31, has thrown for 426 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions this season, including one returned for a touchdown after replacing Daniels in Sunday's loss.
