REVEALED: Colts Show Off New Alternate Uniform
USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday morning, the Indianapolis Colts revealed a new alternate uniform, stepping out from their traditional blue and white look to reveal an "Indiana Nights" theme featuring a black helmet and a blue jersey/pants combination, modeled by wide receiver Alec Pierce (14) and safety Rodney Thomas II (25).

The team added that these uniforms will be worn at home at Lucas Oil Stadium in Week 7 on Oct. 22 against the Cleveland Browns.

Per the Colts:

Inspired by the blue and black of the Indiana night skies, this new uniform features an unprecedented bold, black helmet design and a first-of-its-kind blue heathered jersey.

The team will first wear the alternate uniforms at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sun., Oct. 22 against the Cleveland Browns. They also will wear the uniform for select games in future seasons.

The Colts teased the reveal on Wednesday, tweeting a moon and showing a video of a pair of players in blacked-out silhouettes in front of a time-lapsed video of downtown Indianapolis.

This is the most drastic uniform edit the Colts have made in quite some time, who did make subtle, yet permanent tweaks in 2020. They've occasionally worn uniforms featuring blue jerseys and pants with white helmets in recent seasons for their "Color Rush" theme, and they've also worn throwback uniforms from the 1950s a handful of times throughout the last 15 years.

However, this is the first time in franchise history the Colts have donned black helmets, and the heathered material is the first of its kind in the NFL.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, and Minnesota Vikings are among other teams that have revealed alternate uniforms for the 2023 season.
