Revealed: The Reason for the Tom Telesco Departure

The reasons why the Las Vegas Raiders let go of former general manager Tom Telesco were revealed, in a recent report from Larry Brown Sports.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter explained why the Raiders relieved Telesco of his duties.

The organization was concerned that Telesco’s presence would possibly scare some potential head coaching candidates away, Schefter reported.

“Clearly [the Raiders] prefer that the head coach and GM come in together at the same time, work together on the same page, and move forward in the same direction,” Schefter said. “They did not feel that Tom Telesco, obviously, would be somebody that would be as appealing to some of the head coaching candidates that they are speaking with.”

Before taking over as the general manager position for the Raiders, Telesco was in the position with the Los Angeles Chargers for 10 years before being fired by the organization.

Although, Telesco had a top draft class in 2024, the Raiders felt they needed a new start overall with the removal of coach Antonio Pierce just a few days ago.

It is still early in the coaching search for the Raiders, but it seems as if the feeling is mutual when it comes to some of their coaching candidates being appreciative of coming into a fresh start.

Minority owner Tom Brady will likely have some significant input in the team’s choices moving forward.
