Ricky Pearsall will hope for better fortune than the 49ers' most recent Rookie Premiere invitees
USA TODAY Sports

Unsurprisingly, Ricky Pearsall will represent the San Francisco 49ers at the NFLPA's Rookie Premiere after being selected in the first round of the 2024 draft.

The 31st overall pick has been invited to the event, which takes place in Los Angeles, California from May 16-19 and gives rookies the opportunity to learn about a variety of things away from football, with an emphasis on marketing, endorsements and their individual brand.

San Francisco did not have any draft picks invited to last year's event. The 49ers did not have a pick until the third round of last year's draft and spent their top selection on safety Ji'Ayir Brown.

The rookies chosen to attend are based on a range of variables, with position, draft status, college performance and projected marketability among the things given precedence. As such, defensive players do not typically feature heavily, with only two invited this year. Pearsall is one of 18 wide receivers invited.

He will get a chance to learn from and participate in events with several NFL brand partners, such as Panini America, Fanatics, EA Sports, Sleep Number, Oakley, Bud Light, Pepsi, Gatorade, Funko, Homage, and more.

Pearsall follows in the footsteps of Danny Gray and Tyrion Davis-Price, the 49ers' third-round picks in 2022 who were each invited to the event.

But with Davis-Price no longer on the team and Gray having made one catch in two years in the league, missing the entirety of 2023 through injury, Pearsall will hope for much better fortune as he starts his journey in the NFL with significantly higher expectations.
