Not far from Gillette Stadium is the New England Patriots’ very own Hall of Fame. There, the Patriots put their own notable team members, as a way to honor them for their achievements while on the team. New inductees are voted on by the fans, and the Hall has 37 names on its wall. That number is going up to 38 this week as Rob Gronkowski is seeing his name entered into the Patriots Hall of Fame.
From 2010 to 2018, Gronkowski played nine seasons as a Patriot. During his time with the Patriots, he played as a Tight End. In the regular season, he made 521 receptions for 7861 yards and 79 touchdowns, with one rushing touchdown, for a total of 80. In the postseason, he had 81 receptions for 1163 yards and 12 additional touchdowns. This has resulted in him ranking first in Patriots history in terms of touchdowns and just second in receiving yards. Gronkowski also saw a few championships during his time, with nine consecutive teams in the AFC East division. Eight of them went to the conference finals and three to the Super Bowl.
During a virtual press conference on the induction, Gronkowski was calling it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with barely contained excitement. Being a former player, he is also excited to see his old teammates and other Hall of Famers. When asked what this event means to him, Gronkowski answered that he felt that it was a great honor to be considered one of the greats of the team.
“It means everything it really does,” Gronkowski started. “It means everything about my NFL career with the Patriots. Just to be able to, you know, be recognized with just the greats that were all before me, that’s what it’s all about. It’s a special category to be inducted into the Patriots ring of honor, into the Hall of Fame…Just to be with the greats, with the guys that set the bar, set the standard…Just to be recognized in that category is such an honor; it’s an absolute thrill.”
During the virtual press conference, Gronkowski stated that he would have more to say about the induction during the ceremony. He has a lot of appreciation for the fans who have been cheering him on and wants to express that appreciation. They are the ones who voted him into the Hall back in April of 2026. He has a speech planned out and doesn’t want to spoil too much before the ceremony, which will be happening this weekend.
Gronkowski will be attending the ceremony at the Patriot Place Plaza, just outside the team’s Hall of Fame. The main ceremony will be on November 7th at 1 pm, and it will be live-streamed on official Patriots outlets for any fan who wishes to see it as it happens. There will also be a follow-up on Sunday Night’s game when the Patriots face off against the Green Bay Packers. A portion of the halftime show will be dedicated to Gronkowski’s Hall of Fame induction. There will also be a larger tenth anniversary reunion of the 2016 team that won Super Bowl LI.
To do what you love for a living is one thing, but to be immortalized among the greats is another. Gronkowski is currently on cloud nine with the news of being given the honor and is all smiles when talking about it. With the record he achieved during his time with the Patriots, it only makes sense to honor him in some way. Now Gronk can expect his name to be remembered for years to come with the team that he played with for nine years.
