While he may not have been covering the NFL Draft in any official capacity, former ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III was still watching the event intensely. Among his many takeaways from the big night was a pretty scathing criticism of one team's pick.
Taking to X last night, RG3 admonished the New York Giants for trading back up into the first round to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. He declared that the Giants have done themselves no favors by signing both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to be quarterback first.
RG3 dug deeper at the Giants, accusing them having "no idea what they're doing" with the quarterback position.
"The New York Giants have no idea what they are doing at QB. Signed Jameis Winston only to sign Russell Wilson to start over him and then drafted a Rookie QB who will get minimal reps in his redshirt year behind those 2. Lord have mercy," Griffin wrote.

RG3 responded to a few replies to his message, clarifying that he doesn't hate Dart himself, but "hates" the situation that Dart now finds himself in.
"I love Jaxson Dart’s game. Hate the situation," he replied to a user on X asking him why he hates Dart.
When pressed on the situation itself, RG3 explained that the Giants are in "win-now" mode and adding Dart won't help the team survive the season if he has to sit-and-learn all year.
"Because this coaching staff and front office might not have more than 8 games this year. They have to win now. That’s why they brought in Russell and Jameis. Jaxson won’t get the reps he needs to sit and learn in this situation," he wrote.
He does make some good points. Just about everyone knows that the Giants are in playoff-or-bust mode heading into 2025.
Assuming they make it there it will mean that some combination of Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston likely got them there, meaning they effectively wasted an entire year of Dart's development and have new problems heading into 2026.
If they don't make it, then everyone loses their jobs, Dart likely gets thrown to the wolves for some meaningless games that are more likely to hurt than help him, and the trade was ultimately pointless.
There are a lot of other scenarios that could play out as well, but suffice it to say, the Giants are taking a big-time gamble here.
