Robert Kraft reportedly frustrated with Kendrick Bourne's usage

Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne played only two offensive snaps in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins, and owner Robert Kraft may already be pushing to change that.

According to NBC Sports Boston's Tom E. Curran, Kraft "definitely noticed" Bourne's lack of usage and took note of what Bourne did when he received his only target of the game: Haul in a 41-yard pass from Mac Jones.

With Kraft apparently putting the Patriots' staff on notice, Curran says he bets Bourne will "have a far bigger role going forward."

The Patriots will be looking to shake up their offense one way or another in the weeks ahead. New England scored only seven points in a forgettable Week 1 loss, validating reports from training camp that the offense wasn't in rhythm.

Curran reports de facto offensive coordinator Matt Patricia made the decision to limit Bourne's involvement on Sunday. "Sources tell me he and Bourne haven't exactly jelled," Curran wrote Tuesday.

Bourne set a career-high with 800 yards in his first season in New England last year. He was the Patriots' second-leading receiver on Sunday despite being eight different players receiving more targets.

Whether Patricia is comfortable with Bourne or not, a mandate from Kraft might force the two to figure it out. New England faces a tough Steelers defense in Pittsburgh in Week 2.
