Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze has had an incredible start to his second NFL season and is truly blossoming into a legitimate star for this offense.
The second year connection with quarterback Caleb Williams as helped in a big way too, because the QB-WR duo in Chicago have been automatic for each of the first four games in 2025.
Odunze is the only WR in the NFL to score a touchdown in all four games so far this season, and even joined the great Walter Payton as the only players in Chicago Bears history to score a touchdown in each of the first four games. After the hot start, Odunze is eyeing even more.

"Obviously I've had a hot start, I think the (NFL single-season receiving TD record) is what, 23 touchdowns in a season?" Odunze said when asked about chasing the record on The Rich Eisen Show. "If we not shooting for that, then we selling ourselves short. So, I guess I gotta go get to 24."
There you have it, Odunze is shooting for the single-season receiving TD record set in 2007 when Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss scored 23 touchdowns with the New England Patriots while catching passes from the GOAT Tom Brady.

Odunze will have the advantage toward getting to 24 since Moss played in a 16-game season in 2007, Odunze will be granted the extra game to try and get there. Yet, since adding an additional game to the schedule in 2021, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase has had the best season with only 17 receiving touchdowns, but it's worth mentioning Davante Adams scored 18 touchdowns in 2020 during a 16-game season with the Green Bay Packers.
Regardless, Odunze has some more work to do over the final three quarters of the season to even think about sniffing that record. Through four games, Odunze has totaled 20 receptions, 296 receiving yards, and five receiving touchdowns.
Sustained for 17 games, Odunze would only be on pace for 85 receptions, 1,258 receiving yards, and 21 receiving touchdowns (which would put him third all-time in receiving touchdowns behind Moss and Hall of Fame legend Jerry Rice).
Because I'm curious and I'm sure other people are too, here's how those numbers would match up against the franchise single-season records.
Passing Marshall's reception and receiving yard records would be a major accomplishment that honestly might not be topped anytime soon. However, Odunze is well on his way toward setting the franchise record for single-season receiving TDs. He only needs nine more touchdowns in the final 13 games of the season for that record to be his.
